AMG to supply CCTV transmission system to Museum of Islamic Arts in Qatar

AMG Systems, a leading provider of fibre optic transmission equipment for CCTV surveillance operations, has been contracted by UAE security installer, Specialised & Interactive Systems L.L.C. (SIS), to supply its new fibre optic transmission system to form part of the security and surveillance system at the newly constructed Museum of Islamic Arts in Doha, Qatar.
This landmark structure, which opens this year, will house an extensive collection of Islamic treasures and will feature nearly 5,000 square metres of exhibition space. The building was designed by renowned modernist architect I M Pei. The mainly concrete structure features a series of bridges which link the building with the land and also form focal points within the central atrium.
The installation required eight channel multiplexers for transmission of over 400 camera signals with associated data back to the control room. AMG's Guardian- LiteT 4600 system was selected for the project.
Alan Hayes, MD and founder of AMG Systems said: "The tender process for the project was very long, and there was fierce competition amongst systems integrators, to work on this highly prestigious project. It's a major breakthrough for AMG in the Middle East to have won this contract and I am convinced that we will see many more projects in the region on the back of Museum of Islamic Arts."
Kevin Gausden from Quadrant Security Group who worked on the security and surveillance elements of the project and specified the AMG equipment for the tender process said: "The reason for choosing AMG is mainly their exceptional support.
The new headquarters and flagship facility, which is located in Dubai’s Airport Freezone, will also house EGSs Transguard business divisions and will offer a broader range of services than was previously available for its clients in the banking, security and valuables trading industries.
The new building is fully equipped to handle valuables and to allow vulnerable goods such as computer chips, mobile phones, and pharmaceuticals to be processed rapidly. Cash belonging to banking and security exchange clients can also be securely packed and efficiently shipped around the world. An additional bonus for clients, such as exchange houses, is the availability of leasable office space, which could reduce the cost of insurance while moving valuables.
This not only applies to their technical support, but throughout the tender process - and the inevitable changes a big project like this undergoes - the support from the sales department has been excellent and very helpful," he said.

Mobile CCTV technology from TSS (Traffic Safety Systems) has been selected by the Kuwait Police Department for a road policing trial to measure its effectiveness in tackling speeding offences and other traffic violations.
The Radar Autovision mobile CCTV technology will be fitted to police patrol cars where it will integrate accurate speed measurements with digital CCTV evidence of the target vehicle. The system can also be used in a stationary or moving vehicle to monitor offenders travelling towards or away from the police car.
Julian Cooke, international sales manager at TSS said: “The evaluation of Radar Autovision by the Kuwait Police began at the end of March and follows on from interest expressed by Injifa Security Services, part of the Al Wazan Group of companies, based in Kuwait City who specialise in the supply of cars and equipment to the police and military in Kuwait.”
Hasan Al Arabi, executive manager at Injifa, who are managing the trial, said: “We were looking for an advanced digital solution which could deliver the right level of performance for the Kuwait police and were impressed with Radar Autovision when we saw it during Intersec, giving us the confidence to put the TSS system forward for an intensive trail.
Representatives from TSS have worked with us throughout the ongoing test, including traveling to Kuwait City for the initial installation, and a presentation to the Chief of Traffic Police.” The Kuwait police test follows on from work that TSS has undertaken with other forces in the region, including Dubai (See SME April/May) .
