The strategic partnership will meet the growing demand for photo ID and ID card application control software solutions for companies and individuals operating in the Middle East.
“In view of the need for more reliable identification solutions in the markets we operate, OnLine Distribution is keen to engage with the channel on HID’s ID card application control software solutions, which compliments our existing portfolio of Zebra card printer solutions,” said Venu Menon, sales director at OnLine Distribution.

South African security company Enforce Security Services is to open a new branch in Dubai and has been appointed by the BurJuman shopping mall to provide a range of security services.
The company offers a full spectrum of security services, including physical guarding, investigation work, corporate electronics, CCTV monitoring, alarm monitoring and response and also offers a full range of specialised security services focused on sectors that include the commercial, industrial, hospitality, healthcare and special events markets.
The expansion into the UAE market was a natural progression for Enforce, says the company. “As the UAE has become a tourist destination, in part because of its retail offering, the region’s focus on retail security needs to expand correspondingly. Mall owners, tenants and shoppers all want the peace-of-mind that their interests are being protected using trained staff and the latest electronics available,” said Darryn Johnston, regional manager, Enforce Security Services LLC. The security contract with BurJuman will also cover the office tower, residences and the new BurJuman Rotana Suites Hotel, with a mix of physical and technologybased security.
“ Dubai’s changing retail landscape requires security solutions that combine physical safety staff with the latest electronic monitoring and Enforce Security Services’ integrated approach and more than two decades of expertise convinced BurJuman of the value of their security solutions,” said Eisa Adam Ibrahim, general manager, BurJuman.
Enforce Security Services’ management believes that the company can attract at least 25% of the UAE’s retail security market in the next 18 months. Executives cite Enforce’s holistic approach to security technology, trained staff, and customer relationship management as key differentiators.
Dubai launches e-Permits for tracking and monitoring imports and exports
Dubai eGovernment, in partnership with Dubai Municipality, Dubai Customs, Dubai Police and Adobe Systems, is to launch an e-Permits scheme aimed at facilitating the faster release of shipments coming into Dubai through different ports.
The e-Permit project has strong backing and sponsorship from the Ministry of Governmental Sector Development, while the Ministry of Finance will handle revenue collection. SOMAC Information Technology, Adobe’s Middle East distributor, is using the Adobe LiveCycle Enterprise Suite to implement the e-Permit solution, which will automate the process of restricted goods permits and allow those involved in the import and export business in Dubai faster access and support.
Speaking at the press conference, Salem Al Shair, director eServices, Dubai eGovernment said: “We are pleased to launch the e-Permit service together with our partners, and we are very positive about the extensive adoption and success of the service in Dubai, which is one of the busiest import and export points in the Middle East. Through the e-Permit solution, an initial estimate of approximately 6,000 transactions can be completed online, with a growth rate of 5-15 per cent every month.”
Lieutenant General Dhahi Khalfan, commander-in-chief of Dubai Police, said: “I appreciate Dubai eGovernment’s role in establishing the modern concept of using ICT to offer government services to individuals, and government and private entities in order to ease people’s lives in Dubai.
“This goal has been achieved in the framework of integration and coordination between Dubai eGovernment and all the departments under the umbrella of Dubai Government. The vision of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum of providing 90 per cent of Dubai government services electronically has been achieved, and the ePermits project has perfectly complemented this vision as it saves time and effort, while offering enhanced security for transactions in Dubai.”
