AssetCo to provide total turnkey fire service provision for Abu Dhabi

AssetCo, the provider of integrated support services to the UK Fire and Rescue Service, is pleased to announce the award of a £40m contract to provide a fully outsourced firefighting service by His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and the Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

The contract, which is for an initial three years, is the first of its kind in the UAE that involves a total turnkey solution for the provision of personnel, training, operational equipment and facilities management.

John Shannon, chief executive officer, commented "This is a transformational contract win for us given the scope of services to be provided, and reflects the success of our transition to an integrated support services business over the last 18 months. This lead role, to develop and deliver an outsourced fire and rescue model in Abu Dhabi and the wider UAE, ideally positions the business for future growth. It will reinforce our work with other government agencies that currently provide a fire and rescue capability and who are stakeholders in our Abu Dhabi Government Training Centre JV".

This contract win closely follows the company's recent 10-year JV announcement with the Abu Dhabi Government to develop and operate an emergency services training centre, and the seven-year CapitalGuard contract with London Fire Brigade to provide 700 reserve firefighters.
